Privacy Policy for PDF Reader & Editor: Sign Docs
Effective Date: September 16, 2026
PDF Reader (the "Application") is a local-only document utility for iOS focused on scanning, converting, editing, organizing, and protecting PDF files. It is provided by Manas Protim Das (the "Service Provider") as a freemium service, intended for use "AS IS".
This privacy policy applies to PDF Reader distributed through the Apple App Store.
Use of this application is governed by Apple's Standard EULA, available here
1.Information Collection and Use
PDF Reader does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to external servers.
All content generated or imported by the Application—including PDF files, scanned documents, converted files, signatures, OCR text, and preferences—is stored only on your device using Apple's local storage technology.
No Account Required: PDF Reader does not require registration, login, or personally identifiable information to function.
No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not collect your IP address, device identifier, usage patterns, or other telemetry.
No Cloud Syncing: Your files and data are not uploaded to any server by the Service Provider.
No Cookies: The Application does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
2.Your Documents and On-Device Processing
PDF Reader works entirely on your device. Every operation—scanning, importing, converting (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text, HTML, RTF, and images to PDF), merging, compressing, editing, signing, redacting, watermarking, adding page numbers, OCR (text recognition), organizing pages, password protecting, and exporting—is performed locally within the Application.
On-Device Only: Your documents are never uploaded to, processed by, or shared with any external server operated by the Service Provider.
Text Recognition (OCR): Optical character recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Recognized text is stored only on your device to power in-app search.
Your files remain under your control on your device.
3.Camera (Document Scanning)
PDF Reader can use your device camera to scan physical documents and turn them into PDFs.
Purpose: Camera access is used only to capture pages you scan within the Application.
On-Device Only: Scanned images are processed on your device and saved to your local library. They are not transmitted externally.
Permission Control: You can grant or revoke Camera access at any time in your device settings under Privacy & Security → Camera → PDF Reader.
4.Microphone and Speech Recognition (Voice to PDF)
PDF Reader offers a "Voice to PDF" feature that transcribes your dictation into an editable PDF.
Purpose: Microphone and Speech Recognition access are used only while you are actively dictating, to convert your speech into text.
On-Device When Available: When your device and language support on-device speech recognition, your audio is processed entirely on your device and is not sent anywhere.
Apple Speech Processing: For languages or devices that do not support on-device recognition, iOS may send audio to Apple to perform the transcription. This processing is handled by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy. The Service Provider does not receive, store, or transmit your audio.
No Recording Storage: The Application does not save your raw audio; only the resulting text you choose to keep is stored, on your device.
Permission Control: You can grant or revoke Microphone and Speech Recognition access at any time in your device settings under Privacy & Security → Microphone / Speech Recognition → PDF Reader.
5.Photos and Sharing
PDF Reader lets you create PDFs from photos and share or export the files you produce.
System Photo Picker: When you add images (for "Image to PDF" or to place a photo in a document), you select them through Apple's standard photo picker. The Application receives only the specific images you choose and does not request full access to, read, or scan your photo library.
Sharing and Exporting: Saving or sharing your PDFs and exported files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, images, or text) is handled through Apple's standard share sheet. The Service Provider does not receive or intercept any shared content.
6.Payments and Premium Features
PDF Reader offers optional premium access through an auto-renewing subscription and a one-time lifetime unlock, purchased via Apple's App Store using StoreKit.
All payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple.
The Service Provider does not receive your credit card details, billing address, or Apple Account information.
Purchase and subscription management (including cancellation) is governed by Apple's privacy terms and handled in your Apple Account settings.
Core features are available without payment. The Application contains no ads and no tracking.
7.Third-Party Services
The Application does not share, sell, or transmit any user data to third parties.
No third-party SDKs, ad networks, or analytics services are integrated into the Application.
No data is shared with third-party AI services.
The only external services involved are Apple's own system services (App Store/StoreKit for purchases, and Speech Recognition where on-device processing is unavailable), which are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
8.Data Retention and Deletion
Since application data is stored locally on your device:
Retention: Data remains on your device for as long as the Application is installed.
Deletion: You can delete individual documents within the Application, or remove all application data by uninstalling the app.
Backups: Your files may be included in your own device backups (for example iCloud or computer backups) if you have enabled them. These backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by the Service Provider.
No data remains on the Service Provider's servers because none is transmitted.
9.Your Rights
You have full control over the data stored on your device:
Access: Any app data that exists locally is available within the Application.
Deletion: You may delete documents in-app or uninstall the Application to remove local data.
Portability: Because the Application stores files locally, they remain under your control on your device and can be exported or shared at any time using the standard share sheet.
Since the Service Provider does not collect data on a server, there is no server-side data to request, correct, or delete.
10.Children's Privacy
PDF Reader does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to the Service Provider, please contact us at the email below so appropriate action can be taken.
11.Security
The Application relies on Apple's platform security and sandboxing to help protect your data.
The Application does not intentionally make network connections to transmit user data.
All document processing, conversions, and text recognition occur on-device within Apple's secure sandbox.
PDF password protection is applied on-device using Apple's PDFKit encryption.
12.Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating this page with a new effective date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
